About GEHCC:

The past decade has witnessed a rapid and unprecedented advance in our understanding of almost every human disease. This is perhaps best exemplified by the research in human cancers: powered by the next generation sequencing technology, the genome of virtually every type of major human cancer has been decoded and key cancer genes identified, opening exciting opportunities for devising new therapeutics.  It is fair to say there has been a revolutionary progress in the treatments of human diseases, including immunotherapy and genetics-based therapeutic design (alternatively, precision medicine) for cancers, and gene editings for many otherwise untreatable diseases of genetics in nature.

Despite the exciting progress and new opportunities easily seen and understood by biomedical researchers, there are three outstanding unmet needs: First, an urgent need to educate ordinary public: This is an important problem, as in order to maximize the benefit of biomedical and technological advance, it is critical that the general public are well informed such that they can be fully involved in working with healthcare professionals in managing their health, including disease prevention and all possible options for disease management.  Second, a timely communication of research progress between the biomedical laboratories and healthcare professionals to help the latter make better decisions in the clinical practice. Finally, a huge gap remains in communicating the scientific advance, in the most layman’s term possible yet also accurately, to entrepreneurs and business professionals who play critical roles translating scientific advance, via their commercialization, into general society good.

GEHCC ‘s ECP service:

GEHCC aims to provide the service to meet these needs. We are a group of biomedical researchers and healthcare providers, focusing on cancer genetics and precision medicine and dedicated to making an impact on the healthcare of the general public.

In brief, our work can be summarized as ECP – Education/Communication/Presentation. We work with general concerned public (patients and their families), healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs and business professionals. We serve as a bridge connecting these groups of people to achieve their goals. We answer specific questions about healthcare and health management via written communications and essays, and provide service in preparing presentations and reports for both lay audience/readers and professionals. In addition, we provide consulting service to active biomedical researchers who are in non-genetics fields but hope to take advantage of the latest progress in genetics research and technologies to maximize their productivity.
